Why is this campaign important?

During 16 Days of Activism 2024, we launched our first campaign, Empower.

This campaign was rooted in extensive research that highlighted the pressing issue of women supporting one another. In preparation for this, we conducted thorough investigations into existing research exploring the competitive dynamics among women. Our findings revealed a prevalent culture of competition, patterns of victim blaming, and concerning attitudes that stemmed from entrenched gender norms.

What is it?

Our campaign seeks to engage women and girls in education, as our research revealed a significant prevalence of competition, and an overall lack of support in these environments. As part of our initiative, we invited students to share their experiences of female friendships, the importance of girls supporting one another, and the broader theme of female empowerment.

We recorded these insights and produced a range of campaign materials which were published during 16 Days of Activism. To see our campaign video, you can watch the link below. To view more content, you can visit our Instagram and LinkedIn

We believe that with this campaign, we can begin dismantling the barriers of competition that often pit women against one another. By encouraging open dialogue and sharing personal stories, we aim to cultivate a sense of unity and empowerment among women and girls whilst challenging harmful norms.

We offer stalls, presentations and materials for Empower. If you are interested in engaging with our campaign, please contact seanawatt@emilytest.org
